One of the most popular attractions of the IFA 2005 in Berlin was a gigantic HDTV »American Sports Bar« built and designed by KINZO.
The sports bar - modelled after an American diner - was enclosed by a café on one and a lounge on the other side representing the ends of bleachers. The entire floor of the sports bar area was covered with astroturf and field typical markings giving it the feel of the real. This arrangement left a large space in front of the bleachers available to stage events.
The entire set-up calls to mind a boxing ring with a floating screen cubicle transmitting sports coverage above the bar. Thirty HDTV screens were placed strategically throughout the stand for easily accessible viewing pleasure of patrons. Proportioning and style of uniformly white design elements created an enclosed space with a touch of live stadium atmosphere. The aesthetics of the consistently athletic sports bar starkly contrasted the rest of the technocratically focussed stands presenting consumer electronics at the trade show.
